About Our Eye
Examinations
At The Eye Academy we place a high emphasis
on clinical investigation of your eyes and offer a range of different
types of examinations ranging from a generalised standard eye test
through to specialised ones, which focus on specific conditions.
We invest continuously in the newest technology such as digital photography
and corneal mapping, to provide the most up to date screening and
investigative techniques. Our
optometrists are very experienced and keep up with the latest theories
and scientific research. Some of them undertake sessional work in
Hospital Eye Departments and they have broad experience in managing
both common and non-common ocular conditions.
Retinal Photography
We’ve invested in the latest Digital
Ocular Imaging System, which takes photographs of the back of the
eye. Retinal Photographs are one of the most accurate and advanced
ways of screening for diseases and the procedure is highly recommended
as a routine part of your examination.
A digital image records in accurate detail the exact appearance of
the internal structures of the eyes. Because damage that happens in
conditions such as glaucoma occurs very subtly, the abnormalities
are difficult to detect without having something to compare the appearance
against. Detection is made easier and earlier by taking serial photos
and putting these up side by side. This way the Optometrist can physically
compare the appearance from one visit to the next and monitor the
progress accurately.
By having Retinal Photography as part
of your routine examination, diseases such as glaucoma can be picked
up much earlier. |
